KNITwhere?

So here it is - moment of truth, my work of KNIT... here are work in progress images whilst I still work on the editting of the videos that were shot whilst I put up my knitting, after about half an hour of hard graft, and putting all my previous 'Ladder Training' in to good practice... there it was, admittidly not 100% complete, as for the first night I didn't trust my sign and glasses to last. So, the following day we ventured back out and the finishing touches.. and another half an hour or so later, we were complete! It was a beautiful feeling to finally have all I'd been working on for the past month or so up on the tree, fitting all purposes, and now as one door closes, I can open 12 million more, so many ideas, so little time!

Hope you all love my creations ;)

The Giantess

As the knitting sensation that has overcome my life ATM continues, its all gone industrial.
Using old broom handle halfs as needles the knits massive, perfect for my tree and perfect for my 'grandad jumper' design I'm going to bomb onto it. Tried documenting me knitting with the beasts, and this was the best I could do...
Where the needles are yet to have points, you have to do a lot of the knitting using both hands, sore thumbs a plently it does take some determination to knit for longer lenths of time.

Also took a few close ups of the knit itself, and of the mass needles... unfortunately this is still very much work in progress and needs to be about 8x the size of what it is currently, its gunna be a hell of a lot of blood sweat and tears no doubt, but it'll all be worth it once its all put together.

tick tick boom.

As the knitting continues, things get a little experimental...
Plasitc bags, pvc and thread flew through the air like a scene out of a very bad movie. In the end it is suprisingly easy to knit with plastic bags, however stupididly hard to knit pvc, who'd of thought the world of bodycon dresses and saucy lingerie wouldnt be interested in the cable knit.
All still very much in the first stages at the moment, however within the next few days we're having to step it up a notch and get down to some serious knit with designs and measurements like never before, so with nothing more to add here are a few more images from our days knitting... oh and a rather odd PomPom I tried to create using various synthetic materials:

Thread Banging, Needle Clanging

YARNBOMBING an American sensation, and fast approaching @farehamcollege in early October, we're all getting a little bit involved...

Who would of thought knitting would ever be considered vandalism but as 'criminals' of all ages scowl the streets in the dark of midnight, attaching knit designs to various trees, benches an street signs, will we ever be safe again!?
To see where it all began check out http://www.knittaplease.com/ and Magda, the woman considered to have begun the madness, and the various YouTube videos of these criminal masterminds at work. Many dress in costume or knitted balaclavas to disguise their true identity - yes folks its really this serious - but for those brave enough to expose their identity we salute you, you knitting geniuses!

Over the next coming weeks there will be photo/video evidence of my peers and I in prep for the Faculty Fare @farehamcollege on the 4th-5th Oct. where we plan to yarnbomb our own trees right outside the college grounds, it's going to be a warm winter for some very lucky trees ;)!
